Bidayuh with Chinese surname

I will be staying in Johor til end of July it seems. Or I might be posted to another project in Malacca just by a phone call. Or I might just stay in Johor til August for another project in Titan. I am starting to miss Miri alot :(
My Bangkok trip has to be cancelled due to political situation over in Bangkok. It was such a waste. Me and Feng were looking forward for that trip. Damn you protestors!

I always wanted to learn Japanese language and I would even pay to go for lessons. But.. I don’t even know how to speak my own native language. That is a shame. And I am calling myself a bidayuh. Shame on me, twice. I am willing to pay if anyone out there willing to teach.

ISM-SDM 2009

March 6th, 2009 by aldrin-m

I have just completed yet another shutdown maintenance work. This time, it was in Idemitsu SM (M) Sdn Bhd. Idemistu SM (ISM) produces Styrene Monomer (SM) which is a raw product for making plastics. For 22 days of Mechanical Day, it was the biggest, in term of manpower, shutdown I have ever been in with daily attendance around 500 workers. It was an interesting shutdown which includes static equipments, rotating equipments, modification works - piping and civil as well as catalyst loading for reactors.

I will be heading to Melaka middle of this month for another project in PSR2 Refinery. It would be an interesting project as we will be doing modification for 6 process columns. The highest column is about 50+m, so I heard. Hopefully I am fit enough to climb all those 6 columns. :S

A halt in History

How am I going to put this in words? After the Australian Open Final tonight, I hate to admit that Nadal is a better player now. He plays brilliant tennis, just like what Federer showed us from 2004 til 2007. I believe Nadal will win a Golden Slam sooner than Federer passing the 14th Grand Slams mark set by Pete Sampras.

The season has just begun and I am still will be rooting for Federer to win this year’s French Open and as well as winning his 14th Grand Slams titles. Federer all the way!

- Bad luck or rather my stupidity continues as my company’s laptop was stolen. I forgot to place my laptop in the trunk of the car before I left to buy something in Seksyen 14. Quite a big issue in the office as I was ordered to pay RM1000 for my carelessness. Sucks!

- Went back to Kuching for Christmas. Saw my nenek for the first time since 10~15 years ago.

My 2008 New Year’s resolution was to read 3 books which I already accomplished by the mid of 2008. It was a really bad year for me apart of winning the UKM Open and represented Malaysia in Asian Soft Tennis Championship.

Happy New Year to all of you. I hope you will have a better year ahead.

Christmas

For a change, I went back to Kuching for Christmas this year. It was fun. I stayed in Kampung Skuduk. I like the paddy fields there. I went to Seratau to see my nenek as well. That was the first time I saw my nenek in 10~15 years. Although she is 95 veteran years old now, she is still very strong and healthy.

I am happy to see BB too! I am glad that she is doing well after the operation. BIG *hugs* for BB and Kavan!

Truly, Unbelievable!

November 21st, 2008 by aldrin-m

I went to watch the Showdown of Champions 2008 last Tuesday. It was truly unexpected. Jo Lyn called me up in the evening saying she had 2 extra free tickets. I was so happy to be able to see all four players, Federer, Blake, McEnroe and Borg. Federer was awesome! Blake’s forehand was unbelievable. McEnroe’s entertaining performance was fun and Borg’s coolness sent a chill across the indoor stadium. Thanks to Jo Lyn for the tickets. And also for her interesting commentaries during the match. You rawk! :P
On a serious note, I am really disappointed that things don’t turn out as planned. I feel like I am being cheated. Having said that, my days in the organisation will be numbered.

A Reminder..

November 17th, 2008 by aldrin-m

Exactly a year ago today, 17th Nov 2007, I had a terrible accident which almost cost me my eyesight. Looking back, (pun not intended) I am still terrified by what I had been through. Ever since the accident, I have never rubbed my left eye and I am afraid to even walk past a moving piece of cloth or canvas.

Just a reminder to all of my family and friends, please do take care of yourself wherever you are. If what happened to me is not a good example of an accident that could happen to anyone, then I don’t know what is.

6th ASTC, Mungyeong Korea

November 4th, 2008 by aldrin-m

I am taking a day off today. I just got back from the 6th Asian Soft Tennis Championship in Mungyeong, Korea yesterday. I need to unpack all my things and get ready for work tomorrow.

Being in Korea was the best experience for me so far. Although our results says otherwise, it was a good eye opener for me and Lan especially since Hossen, Zul and Pian had played in soft tennis tournament before. Personally, I think we still have alot to work on our games. One of the disadvantages for us during the Games was the weather. The weather was extremely cold. We need to constantly keep ourselves warm. Neverthanless, I enjoyed playing in the Games and representing Malaysia was unbelievable.

The whole trip was worth it. We get to meet people from around Asian countries. I hope we can do it again next time, or next year in Busan. We also managed to go to Seoul during our stay there. We went to Dong Dae Mun and as well as Nam Dae Mun. We also went to Mungyeongsaejae for the Apple Festival celebrations. We visited KBS Film Site there as well.

I would love to go to Korea again. I want to spend more time in Seoul for my next visit. Finally, I would like to say thanks to all my team mates - Hossen, Zul, Pian and Lan. You guys make the whole trip memorable. Special thanks to Goh as well. Thanks for bringing us there. A big thanks to Park, Malaysian Team interpreter. You ROCK dude! :P

Mungyeong - Day 6

November 1st, 2008 by aldrin-m

What a day!

We played our team event today. The weather is still like the day before. I heard it was about 5-7 deg. C. We lost to Mongolia for our team event with the score, 0-3. I think the weather here is a big disadvantage for us. How can people even play in this kind of condition? :|
After the match, we went to Seoul. It wasn’t easy though. First, we have to convinced our interpreter and secondly, we have to sneaked out because the organizer doesn’t want the atheletes to roam around other than Mungyeong City itself. It was a 2 hours bus ride from Mungyeong to Seoul. Our trip down to Seoul was similiar to Amazing Race. We rushed through everything because of time constraint. We reached Seoul at 2.30pm and right away we boarded the train to Dongdaemun. It was very confusing in Dongdaemun. We spent about an hour there but we didn’t manage to get anything. So we decided to go to Namdaemun to shop instead. We spent about 2.30 hours shopping in Namdaemun. As soon as we finished our shopping, we rushed back to Seoul bus terminal to catch our bus back to Mungyeong. We reached our motel at 10.30pm.

It was just tiring but fun at the same time. Finally I managed to go to Seoul after almost a week here ;)
